Do Your Patriotic Duty, Drink Texas Craft Beer!

If you've been paying attention to the talking heads on TV, you've probably heard a little something about our economy sucking. (Oh no...not a post about the economy! I swear, this one is different.) Texas has actually fared pretty well compared to the rest of the US, but we could do better. And one really fun way that you can help Texas get out of its funk is by drinking beer. Seriously.

The Vs. Tour hits Houston!

This is awesome.  Space City Nerd is proud to help bring the Vs. Tour to Houston. Whats the Vs. Tour consist of? Well the one and only Random will be doin' it live, along side with the leading authority in comic book rapping, Adam Warrock. Not to mention Charlie Evans, Jr. DJ DN3, and Houston's very own H.I.S.D! The "Vs." in "Vs. Tour" isn't there just for a pretty title, we'll also be playing a couple of matches of Street Figther Vs.

Mahks the Drunk Diab VS "SERENITY"

Honestly, as bad as I may make this movie out to be, I would hope that you have seen it as well as the series (Firefly). It's only a single season, hardly a commitment.

A weekend of gaming at OwlCon!

What do you get when a bunch of game
geeks go to college? At Rice, you get OwlCon, a three day celebration
of everything gaming. They've got a little something for everyone,
whether you're into board games, tabletop RPGs, or even historical
minis. The event has been going on for an incredible 31 years, and
they continue to put on a great con each year. This year was no
exception.

Ultra Act Ultimate Zero

Mike Relm is Houston Bound!

Why am I excited Mike Relm is coming to Houston? What possible ties to nerdom does he have?  Mike Relm is a DJ and while he started off dealing with hip-hop, his style has evolved into a mixed media beauty.  He's been remixing movie trailers, TV ads, and iconic move scenes such as the "O-face" scene from "Office Space".  Relm has also been touring with Blue Man Group for awhile, which is also pretty awesome.  He's won Webbys, worked with Mike Patton, and played Coachella...so ladies and gents, we are proud to team up with Lunaface Promotions to bring you Mike Relm.

COMICS! Weekly: Uncanny X-Men #6

Uncanny X-Men #6
Writer: Kieron Gillen
Artist: Greg Land

Gillen and the always polarizing Greg Land continue their journey of exploring
some of the repercussions of the Dark Angel Saga, and this installment
is a much more solid outing than the previous issue.

The
biggest issue with a comic like this is while it tries it’s best to be
self contained, reading Dark Angel Saga is going to make so much more of
it clearer. That said, Gillen has taken this

COMICS! Weekly: Fatale #2

Fatale #2
Writer: Ed Brubaker
Artist: Sean Phillips

Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips have pretty much proven themselves to be a
winning team. Almost every collaboration they have from Criminal to
Incognito to Sleeper have all been amazing books, and Fatale is so far
living up to the precedent they’ve set.

While Brubaker has a proven record with the crime noir story, Fatale is
trying a few new things by weaving magic and horror into the story.

COMICS! Weekly: Action Comics #6

Action Comics #6
Writer: Grant Morrison/Sholly Fisch
Artist: Andy Kubert/Chriscross

When Grant Morrison was announced as the new writer for Action Comics, I was
ecstatic. Morrison has proven he has a great handle on Superman with
All-Star Superman, and getting more Superman stories in that vein could
not be a bad thing. That said, this new Action Comics has been engaging
if not a tad uneven at times, and this issue follows that pattern.
